Some People...

I think it's funny how some people, no matter how old they get, they still think it's funny to post stupid things anonymously. The same thing happened on both of my previous attempts at a discussion forum on my website. Apparently, this blog is no exception.

I'm sure it's someone I know thinking they're pretty funny, and I'm also sure I know who it is based on the IP info from the comments made. But, see, the thing is, it's not funny. It just makes my friends look stupid, and makes me look bad in front of other people who might read this blog.

I don't mean to sound like a teacher lecturing his pupils, but I won't blanch this anymore. When I started a personal website in 1999, I was the only one in my group of friends to do so. Since then, almost all of them have at least attempted to maintain regular sites (John...), yet mine was the only one that had to deal with stupidity like this, repeatedly, and frankly, it pisses me off.

The person who did this is thinking "man, Sean is taking this way too seriously," and maybe I am, but I am just sick of having to deal with it. I put these discussion forums and comments sections up because I like to see what my friends have to say regarding my posts. It's no fun when one person decides to be an idiot.

When you consider the fact that a couple of my new coworkers visit my site, it really makes me look bad, and makes my friends look even worse. These are people that barely know me (I've been on the job for almost 2 months now), so I can only imagine what they would think. Having said that, I should clarify that most of my friends are smarter than stuff like this. Most of them.

So, this is what it comes down to. There will still be a blog, but no more comments for now. At least not until the person responsible finds something better to do with their time online. Have a little respect for my space, and I'll do the same for you.
